Located on the outskirts of Port Townsend, Fort Worden Historical State Park is a former U.S. Army base. But since 1973, it has been a designated state park (and a beautiful one at that). But as fascinating as it is to explore the abandoned bunkers and the artillery museum, the best part of the experience is spending the night in the old officers’ quarters.

The buildings were restored to reflect the early 20th century Victorian period, and they look fantastic.

They usually sleep between 4 and 6 people, and most of them have full kitchens.

These are old dormitories from 1904, originally serving as barracks for soldiers stationed here.

Taps at the Guardhouse is open daily from noon until 8 p.m., serving popular seasonal farm-to-table dishes.
