Can I tell you one of my deepest and darkest secrets? Do you promise you won’t judge? Okay, here we go… I have only been skiing once in my life and have no real desire to do it again. Before you ask, I am indeed a Colorado native (born and raised); however, racing down the slopes never really stuck with me. Since I know that I cannot be the only Coloradan who does not care for skiing, I thought now would be a great time to go over other things you can do at a ski resort, including:

Do you want all of the fast-paced action without having to actually stand and maneuver? If you are as uncoordinated as I, you are probably nodding your head and will love all of the fun and excitement that comes with snow tubing!

If you are a Coloradan, you know that ski resorts are home to some of the best restaurants in the state, as many bring in world-renowned chefs who know how to whip up an incredible meal. As if you needed another reason to love on-site restaurants, they usually come with breathtaking views as well.

As with the aforementioned foods, Colorado ski resorts pride themselves on a fully-stocked bar and knowledgable bartenders who are happy to whip up your favorite beverage or introduce you to a new cocktail.

Is there not a gift shop or other boutique-like business at your resort? No problem, as downtown areas and small yet charming districts are usually mere steps away from the ski resort entrance.

That is not a typo, folks; some Colorado ski resorts will let you ride your bike on the slope! How does it work? For the cost of a lift ticket, you can ride your bike (or rent a designated snow bike) down the hill, as long as your practicing caution and courtesy. (Please note: Not all ski resorts allow this, so please check before trying to get your bike on the lift!)

Once again, this will be on a resort-by-resort basis, but some places like Breck offer fast-paced thrill rides like winter coasters, slides, zip lines, and much more. To find out if your ski resort of choice offers this, be sure to check their website before you go. (Pictured is the Gold Runner Alpine Coaster in Breckenridge.)

Do you want to take it easy and enjoy remarkable views at the same time? No need to ride the ski lift, as many ski resorts offer comfortable and enclosed gondola rides with 360-degree views.

Last but certainly not least is snowshoeing, where you can easily walk through deep snow and enjoy the Colorado countryside!
