What’s one of the shortest waterfall hikes in Montana?

Montana is filled with many trails that have waterfalls. While several of them are quite lengthy, there are some that are short and take little time to tackle. One of the shortest waterfall hikes in Montana is Palisade Falls. Palisade Falls is tucked away in the Hyalite-Porcupine-Buffalo Horn Wilderness Study Area near Bozeman, Montana. It’s a 1.1-mile, out-and-back trail that attracts numerous people each year. Palisade Falls isn’t only a short waterfall hike. It’s also one of Montana’s easiest waterfall hikes. May through October is the best time of year to hike this short and easy trail.

What three hiking trails with waterfalls in Montana are great for all skill levels?

As mentioned above, Palisade Falls is a waterfall hike that’s great for all skill levels. However, with that being said, there are quite a few other hiking trails in Montana with an easy rating. Listed below are three of our favorites:

1. St. Mary and Virginia Falls Trail

Montana’s St. Mary and Virginia Falls Trail is located in Glacier National Park near Siyeh Bend. It’s a 2.9-mile, out-and-back trail with lots of beautiful natural scenery. In addition to hiking, visitors of this trail also enjoy birding. January through September is the best time of the year to use this trail.

2. Ousel Falls Park Trail

Ousel Falls Park Trail is located within the Custer Gallatin National Forest near Gallatin Gateway, Montana. It’s a 1.7-mile, out-and-back trail that’s great to hike from May through October.

3. Redrock Falls via Swiftcurrent Pass

Also located in Glacier National Park near Siyeh Bend is Redrock Falls via Swiftcurrent Pass. This 3.6-mile, out-and-back trail is a great area for birding and fishing, in addition to hiking. March through October is the best time of the year to use this waterfall trail.
