The state of Alaska has countless magnificent waterfalls hidden in beautiful spots all over the place. There’s one place with many accessible waterfalls for you to go and admire. If you find yourself asking, “are there any waterfalls near me?”, then you’ll absolutely love the Valdez waterfalls. They are breathtaking examples of some of Alaska’s wild beauty!

Valdez is a small little town on the coast of Alaska.

It’s at the end of the long Richardson Highway, which has a number of stunning waterfalls lining the mountain-studded landscape. As you drive into this small town, you will be greeted with numerous cascading waterfalls.
Upon entering the Keystone Canyon, you are met with waterfalls hundreds of feet tall.

Between mile 14 and 17 of the Richardson Highway are some of the most impressive falls in the area. This area has some of the best waterfall hikes in Alaska, and many tourists travel far and wide to take a look at these incredible waters.
Valdez actually has the nickname, “The Land of Waterfalls.”

Because of the impressive 27-foot average snowfall that Valdez receives every year, the mountainsides fill with waterfalls during the spring snow melt. There are plenty of pullouts for you to pull over to take some incredible photos.
The two most famous of the Valdez waterfalls are Bridal Veil and Horsetail Falls.

The Bridal Veil Falls is a stunning 600 feet tall, and is used for ice climbing in the winter. The waterfall nearby, Horsetail Falls, also stands at an impressive 330 feet!
If you have the chance to fly out to the surrounding area of Valdez, you’ll run into many more waterfalls.

Waterfalls cascading off of nearby glaciers are many, and an incredible sight to behold. You won’t regret taking a flight and getting out in the backcountry of Prince William Sound!

In fact, these waterfalls are the site of some incredible winter fun! They hold an ice climbing festival in February, where climbers come to learn amazing skills for Alaska ice climbs!
You can see many of the Valdez waterfalls on the Richardson Highway once you enter Keystone Canyon.
