There’s a multitude of riches here in Oregon, especially when it comes to waterfalls. All across the state, there are some truly wondrous waterfalls that are just waiting to be explored! Oregon’s spectacular Umpqua National Forest, for instance, is positively overflowing with beautiful waterfall hikes. Three of the best trails are nestled in an old-growth forest, all within five miles of each other. These hikes are short enough that you can easily visit three different waterfalls in a single afternoon — which, in our humble opinion, sounds like the very best way to spend a day! Take a look:

What are some of the best places to go waterfall chasing in Oregon?

Regarded as the Crown Jewel of the Pacific Northwest, the Columbia River Gorge is the largest natural scenic area in the United States and it’s absolutely breathtaking. The mighty Columbia River serves as the border between Oregon and Washington, and there are all sorts of treasures awaiting you on both states’ sides — especially in terms of waterfalls! With more than 90 cascades on the Oregon side alone, this PNW paradise is flush with forests, foliage, and falls. Lots and lots of waterfalls.

Latourell Falls is one of the finest in the Gorge, and the hike to access these falls is a dream. The Latourell Falls Loop Trail boasts four different wooden bridges, making for a marvelous and charming afternoon adventure. You’ll find the trailhead just off the Historic Columbia River Highway. Also located within the Oregon side of the Gorge are Bridal Veil Falls, Horsetail Falls, Wahclella Falls, and, of course, the mighty Multnomah Falls! There’s truly no better place to go waterfall chasing in Oregon than the grand Columbia River Gorge.
